The Best Air Fryer French Fries Recipe

the best air fryer french fries
Crispy and crunchy French fries without the deep frying!  This recipe for crispy and crunchy French fries cooks in about 20 minutes in your air fryer basket for easy cleanup.  Here are some tips to make sure your French fries come out great:
*Use Russet potatoes for a classic French fry flavor.
*Use a Mandoline to cut your fries, perfectly and quickly! (I linked the one I love because its compact and easy to use)
*Soak your cut fries for at least one hour in a large bowl of cold water - changing the water after about 30 minutes with fresh new cold water. This helps remove some of the starch, which will help them crisp up better.
*Dry your fries! Make sure that after soaking the fries, you dry them very well, or else you will have soggy French fries, and nobody likes soggy French fries!

Servings 4

  • 3 large russet potatoes
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Sea salt

  • Using a mandoline, slice the potatoes into fries. Put the cut fries in a bowl of cold water so they are completely covered for one hour. This helps remove starch and will help the fries crisp up more in the oven.
  • Preheat air fryer to 375 degrees.
  • After an hour, drain the water, and dry the fries with a paper towel so they are very dry.
  • Toss with olive oil and salt.
  • Add fries to the air fryer basket, in one layer.
  • Cook 15-20 minutes, until crispy and golden brown.
  • Place on a baking sheet with a cooling rack over it.
  • Place in warm oven (about 225 degrees) while other batches of fries are cooking.

Check on your French fries frequently while cooking, and make adjustments as needed. Every air fryer is different so just use your best judgement!
