You will love this quick and easy recipe for perfectly seasoned meatballs. They are tender, juicy and will melt in your mouth! I love to simmer these meatballs in my 20 Minute Sauce and serve with loads of the BEST garlic bread and a salad.
Ingredients
- ½ cup Panko, or homemade bread crumbs
- 2 tbsp lukewarm water
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup Pecorino Romano or Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp chopped fresh basil
- ½ onion, finely minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced on microplane
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp oregano
- ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- ~¼ cup extra virgin olive oil, for pan frying
Instructions
- Mix together the breadcrumbs and water and set aside.
- Then combine the turkey, egg, cheese, basil, onion, garlic, salt, oregano and pepper to taste. Using your hands, mix the ingredients together. Blend the bread crumb mixture into the meat mixture.
- Be sure the mixture is cold. If it has warmed up a bit, place in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
- Shape into 2-inch balls.
- Heat oil in a large sauté pan. When oil is very hot but not smoking, fry meatballs in batches. When the bottom half of the meatball is brown and slightly crisp, turn and cook the top half.
- Remove from heat and drain on paper towels.
- Finish the meatballs by cooking them in simmering marinara sauce for about 15 minutes.
