Apple Cider Braised Pork Shoulder

This Apple Cider Braised Pork Shoulder is such an easy and delicious meal. Hearty and flavorful pork shoulder is cooked low and slow with onions, garlic, apple cider and soy sauce, which makes for the perfect holiday meal that will be sure to impress!   • 1 3-4 pound boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt (plus more)
  • 1 tbsp avocado or vegetable oil
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 6 scallions, sliced for garnish


  • Trim the fat off of the pork shoulder and slice in half lengthwise (this way it will cook quicker.) Season generously with 1 tbsp kosher salt.
  • Heat a cast iron pan over high heat until is it very hot. Add 1 tbsp avocado or vegetable oil and then add the pork shoulder halves
  • Sear on each side for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  • Add the seared pork, apple cider, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic and chicken stock to the slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 8 hours until the pork is fork tender.
  • Remove the liquid and reduce to make an extra flavorful sauce, or simply drizzle the sauce over the pork before serving.
  • Garnish with scallions and serve with your choice of sides.
