Air-Fryer Parmesan Chicken Tenders

air-fryer chicken tenders
Air Fryer Parmesan Chicken Tenders are golden and crispy, and easy to make for weeknight cooking! You will love this healthier version of your typical fried chicken tender, which are crisp on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside! Lightly coated in oil and air-fried to perfection, these tenders are crispy and just the right amount of salty. If you are looking for more air-fryer recipes, check out some of my favorites!

Servings 14 tenders

  • 1 lb chicken tenders or chicken breast cut into strips *see note
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup panko
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp salt, divided
  • Grapeseed or vegetable oil for frying

  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
  • Mix flour and ½ tsp salt in a shallow dish.
  • Whisk eggs in a second shallow dish
  • Combine breadcrumbs, panko, parmesan cheese and 1 ½ tsp salt in a third shallow dish.
  • Dredge each chicken tender in flour, tapping off any excess flour, then coat in egg, and finally cover in the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Press the breadcrumb mixture into the chicken on both sides (this helps keep them crispy)
  • Generously spray both sides of each tender with cooking spray (or drizzle with oil) and spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • Add as many chicken tenders as you can to air fryer (depending on air fryer basket size, tenders will need to be air-fried in batches).
  • Air fry for 5 minutes. Flip each tender and continue to air fry for an additional 5 minutes or until tenders have cooked through and are golden brown on the outside.

If you are using chicken breast and it is thick, slice it in half lengthwise to make a thinner tender that cooks more quickly.
